Those Well-Oiled Members
a 2050 Theatre production
"Those Well Oiled Members" (2022) is a comedy theatre production put on by 2050 Theatre at the University of Melbourne's Union Theatre. The show itself revolves around some of the richest members of society (including Gwenyth Paltrow) stranded on an oil rig while the world crumbles around them. Despite all this, the only objective each person has is to survive... off the large inheritance of the oil company owner. This sees the different characters all try and fight for his attention, in hopes the riches will be passed down to them, and not the other wealthy surviving humans around them.
The program was accessed by the audience via a QR code on the nights of the show, with QR codes being displayed throughout the premises and by staff volunteers. The audience accessed these programs using their devices before the show started, which included a blurb of the show, the cast and characters, and more credits for those off stage.
2050 Theatre felt having a non-physical theatre program would be more convenient for them and their audience, as well as being environmentally friendly as paper copies were not being produced.
